National Payroll Week, running from Sept. 7-11, honors the efforts of the U.S. workforce, including employees and payroll professionals. Collectively, these 156 million workers, as well as the payroll experts who ensure they’re fairly compensated, contribute 68 percent of the annual revenue received by the U.S. Treasury, according to National Payroll Week 2015.
The American Payroll Association (APA) created this celebratory week in 1996 to accompany Labor Day. During National Payroll Week, American Payroll Association chapters and team members hold tutorial sessions and presentations to spread valuable information to current and future employees in the U.S. by way of schools and civic organizations. The campaign is an effort to help the nation’s workforce learn more about the payroll withholding system, their paychecks and the benefits associated with their earnings.
