Recruiting is one of the HR department's most important tasks when it comes to workforce management. The team is responsible for determining what type of employee needs to be added to the staff and defining the qualifications for every open position.
Further, the HR department has to develop new ways to connect with top talent. For that objective, mobile recruiting has become increasingly popular in recent years, mostly due to the proliferation of smartphones and tablets. As professionals have started relying on these devices for almost everything, companies have had to adapt their content to attract strong applicants. Nathan Parcells of InternMatch explained to The Undercover Recruiter that many enterprises have already begun this process.
"Mobile is on the rise and employers are now updating their hiring process to better reach talent. This channel has become an optimal way to reach the well-connected, busy job candidate. Employers are seeking new ways to optimize their content, emails and job postings for mobile interfaces," Parcells said.
Indeed, people who are too busy to sit at their computers and fill out lengthy job applications often prefer to use their mobile devices. Candidates can easily complete forms and send their resumes to prospective employees from most smartphones and tablets.
Making the application convenient
One issue is that completing an application can be a lengthy process. Many employers have dozens of fields and need tons of data from each candidate, which can frustrating for mobile users. Ed Newman, vice president of strategy for iMomentus, has noticed that enterprises are limiting the amount of required information to for applications on mobile platforms.
"When it comes to job applications on mobile, it may only be name, e-mail address, phone number, and most recent employer and job title, most of which is on LinkedIn profiles. Until things evolve, most other application questions can be pushed to the desktop for later completion," Newman told the Society for Human Resource Management.
This may be the simplest way to implement an effective mobile recruiting strategy. By reducing the amount of data you need from candidates, you're making the application process much more convenient than before.
Further, you don't actually need that many details from a candidate to determine whether they should be given an interview. Most of the information that'll help you find the cream of the crop is in the resume, which will always be a requirement regardless of the platform.
